DevOps Engineer

Our client is seeking a motivated and resourceful engineer to help build, manage and optimize consumer applications on smart-phones and other emerging platforms. The DevOps team oversees server and application deployment and manages server clusters in the AWS cloud. As part of the DevOps team this person work directly with other development team members to provide highly available and high performing services.  The challenges are exciting and varied.  The qualified candidate will work with an agile team of software engineers and must thrive in a high-energy environment with complex multi-disciplinary projects.  The mantra for this role will be automation, automation, automation with a focus on site reliability and performance.


    • 2+ years experience in systems engineering / administration
    • Understanding of configuration management principles and tools
    • Setting up systems with Automation in mind.
    • Identify and solve performance bottlenecks
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills
    • Optimization of user experience and resource usage
    • Supporting and improving our sports, eSports and fantasy offering



  • Experience in dynamic / interpreted programming languages (such as Ruby, Python, etc.)
  • Familiarity with Linux systems tooling a must
  • Experience with AWS cloud instances and deployment solutions via Puppet, Ansible or similar tools
  • Familiarity with common open source web service infrastructure: Nginx, HAProxy, Redis, MySQL, etc…
  • Familiarity with source code control (Git, Hg), along with writing deploy scripts
  • Knowledge of various stacks in the context of application delivery (TCP and HTTP for example)

Ruby Developer

We are looking for talented and passionate Ruby developers to help build and scale a modern API that powers our apps. You will be working with smart, friendly, and dedicated Ruby/Rails developers on one of Toronto’s top Ruby teams. You’ll get to push updates to over 5 million users daily on a modern stack using AWS for infrastructure and Urban Airship for alerts. We use GitHub to manage all of our code and are big believers in code review.

The ideal candidate has experience with some of the above technologies, but wanting to work with them is the most important thing.


  •  2+ years experience in Ruby, Rails
  •  Solid understanding of basic software design principles
  •  Test Driven Development (TDD, RSpec, etc)
  •  RDBMS & Key-Value Store experience (ie. MySQL, Memcached, Redis)
  •  Experience with Modern VCS (Git or Mercurial)

Business Analyst Contract

Major Responsibilities

  • Elicit, analyze, validate and document business, functional and quality requirements for assigned projects or business initiatives using multiple BABOK methods and techniques.
  • Perform cost-benefit analysis and identify solution alternatives – and demonstrate which is best.
  • Work with project sponsors to ensure requirements are aligned to business objectives.
  • Critically evaluate information gathered from multiple sources, reconcile conflicts, decompose high-level information into details, abstract up from low-level information to a general understanding, and distinguish user requests from the actual underlying needs.
  • Continually improve skills and build knowledge in all aspects of the organization, business processes, services, and industry standards.
  • Prepare and deliver presentations to business and technology units, customers, industry forums, senior management and executives, selecting the appropriate approach based on the audience.
  • Support internal and external customers by sharing knowledge and expertise about standards and services.
  • Mentors and motivate less senior staff in gaining knowledge and experience of business analysis skills and techniques.
  • Takes ownership of complex or large components of projects and leads and supervises other staff members to deliver the expected results.

Competencies (Skills/Qualifications/Experience)

  • Deep knowledge with the business analysis knowledge required as defined in the BABOK
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking and writing skills, including a thorough understanding of how to interpret customer business needs and translate them into functional and operational requirements.
  • 8+ years investment fund industry experience in SBA or similar role.
  • Preferably a strong knowledge of ETFs.
  • Experience with business intelligence platforms and projects.
  • Excellent facilitation and presentation skills.
  • Effectively communicates and builds rapport with team members, stakeholders and business partners.
  • Deep knowledge of various requirements analysis and modeling techniques.
  • Ability to work independently under time constraints.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group of executives, managers, and subject matter experts.
  • Successfully engage in multiple initiatives simultaneously.
  • University degree (business or computer science) or equivalent work experience.
  • Certification in Business Analysis / CBAP® an asset.
  • Good knowledge of BPM or Requirement Management tools an asset.

Location – downtown Toronto

Rate – 70-80/hr

Length – 3 mos to start (maybe 6 if they like you a lot!)
